I could cry tears of joy!!!! Been living in Pittsburgh for 3 years and though this city has some sparks of noodle and dumpling greatness. The all around Chinese food is sorely lacking. Stumbled across Szechuan Spice during a trip to the natural history museum (right across the street!). I ordered the chef special beef with pickled pepper.... AH! Real flavor! Real Szechuan heat! My partner and I were so impressed with our dine in meals, we ordered take out this weekend, and were delighted to find the quality not only of the food, but the delivery packaging itself was on point. I implore you to stop by, as I need this restaurant to stay successful and thriving; so I can keep coming back for more of their food.

Let me start with the building from the outside you would think the place inside would be rundown and old but that is far from the case. Inside was clean and the seating was very comfortable. Let's get to the food You will have two menus built into one and let me go into that. The first menu, which has a green border, is American style Chinese affair so familiar tastes with nothing to extreme for an American. My wife and daughter ordered from this section of the menu and the food they got was indeed very good. The second menu, which has a red border, is actual traditional Chinese versions of many of the same dishes. This isn't for beginners or people used to the American style Chinese. The flavors and tastes you will experience as well as the addional ingredients not found in the American style would be very difficult for someone who hasn't tried true Chinese style cooking. This was the menu I selected from and indeed it's very traditional indeed. The soup I had was spiced very nicely and was very heavy on oil which I like. As you can see in my photo the bowl is very large and it would be best shared instead of by a single individual but you will have a solid two meals if you order it for just yourself. The quality was excellent and the flavor was on point. Word of caution to those who go the traditional style and haven't before. The broth is spicy and the oil is heavy your body will experience cramping, flatulence and a runny stool if you body isn't used to it so start slow if it's your first time. Even for someone like me who has had many of this authentic food it still got to me a bit but for someone new prepare yourself for that to occur if you consume and entire meal. Overall this is a fantastic place and you will not be disappointed no matter if you go the American style Chinese or the traditional style.

This place is absolutely amazing. I got the vegetarian mapo tofu, cucumber salad in scallion sauce, and Chengdu kung pou chicken. The mapo tofu was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! It was heart-warming, authentic, and perfectly spicy. I can't wait to come back and get more. (The portions are crazy huge so make sure you have fridge space for leftovers!)

So my daughter and I went here because she wanted real Asian food we ended up here after three different restaurants we decided let’s give it one more try BABYYYY I’m so glad we did this place was so good. The food was so big we had to take most of it home they give you helpings for an entire family of 4 in just one serving REFER TO PICS. The taste was amazing I love when restaurants know how to flavor their food we thought we would have to ask for salt and pepper cause none were on the table but no it was amazing. I mean every single bite was a different flavor. The broth was just BROTHING (as my daughter says). Then my triple delight was delicious and once again we had to share it was super big WORTH THE PRICE!!!!!! we also had fried vegetable dumplings they were green I’m like oh yea this is a good sign we tried them and immediately your taste buds will thank you. Nothing we ordered came with any complaints and I’m sure we will return ASAP the price came to 56.83 we didn’t get drinks because we actually forgot but the water was perfect because it was very very spicy just how we like it so the water hit the spot. JUST GO STOP READING REVIEWS AND SEE FOR YOURSELF YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Fantastic customer service, excellent food, everything was made to order so they were able to make a vegetarian mapo tofu without pork and it was so tasty. I called and the person working there was excellent, said to order with them over the phone because it was cheaper/faster/easier than DoorDash and their delivery person was prompt and wonderful. Would highly recommend the food and the service - definitely just call them instead of using an app!
